Keeping one another in thought and prayer is an important part of our
witness of faith. Please remember
“Joys and Concerns”
Catching up on Joys since our last “Connections” publication . . . . .
The Ken Medema Concert, held at the Lincoln Cultural Center in Kankakee, was just wonderful! Grateful thanks to Rev.Barbara Lohrbach, Ken and the many others that worked to help this event be a success.
Speaking of successes… the recent presentation of “Godspell” at the Plainfield Congregational United Church of Christ was just marvelous. The actors were all from the Plainfield UCC with the exception of Rev. Tom Norwalk who took time from his busy schedule to join the cast. Rev. Nancy Pfaltzgraf was the choreographer and many others from the congregation were there to lend a helpful hand as well. Congratulations all!
The United Church of Christ in Sauk Village also held their annual production by the Sauk Village Players which as always highlights the acting/dancing abilities of their minister Rev. Paula Comper. Great job everyone!
We send our grateful thanks to the Western Association of the Illinois Conference United Church of Christ in Peoria for their much appreciated hospitality in hosting the combined Eastern & Western Spring Association Meetings. Along with a marvelous time of fellowship with friends old & new we were very fortunate to have the Rev. John Thomas, President and General Minister of the United Church of Christ as our keynote speaker. Rev. Thomas also officiated the closing worship. Blessings abound!
The El Paso United Church of Christ recently held its150th Anniversary Celebration. Rev. John Libert is the minister there. We extend congratulations on this great milestone in their church history!!!
We congratulate Pat Morton on her graduation from Chicago Theological Seminary and send our blessings as she completes another step towards ordained ministry..
Rev. Betty Hornback has been welcomed as the Interim Minister at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Champaign.
Sharing Our Concerns . . . . .
We send our deepest sympathy
and prayers to family and friends and Rev. Dean Plassmann upon the passing
of his dear wife Ellen. She will be missed by many.
We were saddened to hear of
the death of Rev. Ed Goltz who was a member of the 1st Congregational United
Church of Christ in Lockport. Sympathy and care is extended to family and
friends.
We send our prayers and
concern to the Prairie Association office which was flooded recently with the
torrential rains that hit DeKalb. The Prairie Association Minister, Rev. Kathy
Lawes had to deal with flooding in her
home as well. We hope by the publication of this newsletter that things are
all cleaned up and functional again!!!
Please keep Sandy Harmison,
wife of Harold Harmison immediate Past Moderator of the Eastern Association,
in your prayers as she recovers from gall bladder surgery.
We need to keep Lisa Keirn,
wife of Rev. Norris Keirn (First Congregational, Marshall), in our thoughts and
prayers as she recovers from surgery and waits for test results.
Sarah Lohrbach, daughter of
Rev. Barbara and Dean Lohrbach (St. John, Kankakee), was recently involved
in a car accident. Thankfully, she was not injured and the other driver had
only minor injuries - but Sarah was
certainly shaken as were her family members. Please keep them in your prayers.
We wish Rev. Ken Roedder of Tuscola well as he recovers from recent hospitalization.
